This is a mindset that I firmly believe in.  If you really want to expand your horizons and increase your abilities, it is important to look to other disciplines and learn what you can from them.  Parkour, in my opinion, is the amalgamation of techniques adopted from gymnastics, tricking, dance, acrobatics, acroyoga, rock climbing, bouldering, methodnaturelle,etcetc applied to a set of fundamental movements.
